KYSA will be sponsoring a referee certification clinic for those interested at the Starfire sports complex on December the 19th to the 21st, Youth, as well as, adults and coaches are invited to participate. This clinic is known as the grade 8 Entry Level Clinic (ELC). The Grade 8 license is a 16 hour clinic with a 100 question test, requiring a score of 75 to pass.
The class is $30 to register made out to KYSA, and upon completion and passing of the test an additional $50 for the Washington Referee Development Account (WRDA)
Once a participant has completed the clinic and passed the exam they will be eligible to officiate age and experience appropriate soccer matches.
The standard for youth officials, for AR, or sideline referee positions is Age + 2 years and for Center positions Age – 2 years.
On any given weekend there are approximately 300 - 350 soccer matches played in South King County alone. State and nationwide there is a shortage of referee's.
Officiating soccer is a great way to earn some extra money and give something back to the soccer community.
Certification is for 2009 and you can start refereeing on January 1st, 2009.

Referees are paid on a monthly basis. You are also able to referee at various tournaments around the area

Friday the 19th is from 7pm to 9 pm
Saturday the 20th is from 9am to 2:30pm
Sunday the 21st, is from 9am to 12:00pm
Pea Patch Partial Closures Due to Vandalism
UPDATE: KYSA is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) who did this. Anyone willing to offer assistance/ideas can contact the associations contact phone number or anyone of the board members in the coming days. It would appear that we will be closing the four fields for the remainder of the season and moving those games to alternate fields.
On the evening of the October 23rd or the early morning of the 24th, someone driving a truck entered the Pea Patch fields from off of the road and caused enough damaged that both U11 fields, and two of the three U12-U19 fields have been closed indefinitely pending a decision on how best to repair them. All four U9-U10 fields are still open for play. Only field 2 is open for play for ages U11 and up. The individual(s) also damaged a set of goals that can not be repaired.
KYSA will be working with King County in the coming days to determine how to proceed. KYSA is also working out other field options to ensure completion of games for the U11 and above fall season. A police report has been filed with King County.
